Don’t forget Handmade Nation screening on Monday!
In the meantime, why not make a lamp out of all your old tapes? I found it here…

Hi all,
just to alert you that the NZ Post’s postage just went up for large letters outside of New Zealand: from $2.50 to $2.80 for letters to Australia, and from $3.00 to $3.30 for letters to the rest of the world. That’s the shipping cost for orders on our site – http://worldsweetworld.com/currentissue.
You have probably heard that the government  has cut ACE funding to schools by 80%, and there will also no longer be any funding available to community groups through schools after the end of 2009… (No more night classes!)
BOO! HISS!
Show your opposition, and  support the community by attending the protest march on Parliament on Tuesday 4 August (tomorrow), leaving Wellington High School at 2.15pm to arrive at Parliament by 3pm.
The route for the march will be from Gate 4 on Taranaki Street (by the
pedestrian crossing next to the school gym – assemble around the gym
outside area), then down Taranaki Street, along Dixon Street to
Victoria Street, then down Manners Street to Willis Street then along
Lambton Quay to Parliament. Â If you can’t be at the start, just join
the march along the way or meet us at Parliament if you can.
Spread the word!
Its the new graffitti- and It’ll make you smile…
You may have seen the “it’ll all be ok” installation near the Wellington bypass… (it even got a mention in the Dom Post)
Or perhaps you’ve noticed a tree limb lovingly wrapped in a knitted cosy somewhere?
If this sort of thing takes your fancy, Nikki White of the exellent Outdoor Knit Blog is calling for helpers on her next project… “A Fence full of Hearts”
Check out her blog, or the facebook event page to get involved, and spread the love!
(also, check out this for some amazing international knit graffiti pics…)
‘Zilka Recycled Hangers’
Clothes hangers made entirely from recycled British newspapers. Quite cool, though I wonder what happens to the other piece?
I found these for sale online at ‘Pure Design’
Hmm, these claim to be the greenest of green hangers… “Green Hangers”
Or why not recycle an existing coat hanger into a peg bag? Free online tutorial here.
or here, if you can’t crochet.
That’s enough from me, I’d better go sort out my wardrobe…

This is amazing veiwing… real-time births, deaths and carbon emissions worldwide…
have a look!
Wow… an amazing sounding film about cool people making cool things!
(from the wellingtoncreative website): “The documentary is about the new wave of art, craft and design and how these mediums are being reinvented from granny style cross-stitch to modern works of art in their own right.”
The poster seems to be marketing it toward people wanting to make a living from their craft, but I think anyone interested in the arts, craft or design from makers through to buyers would be interested…
