Dream it, buy it, flickr it

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Last night I dreamt of flying dogs and giants. An iron man was facing away from me. He murmured “…sometimes my arms bend backwards.” It was strange.

We are a little sleep deprived, but issue #2 is out and on its way to you. And here are images of projects to do from our winter issue. Join the World Sweet World Projects group on flickr and add pictures of projects of issue #1 or #2 you’ve done yourself. We’d love to see some.

Today is the launch day of World Sweet World issue #2 – we have been preparing and wrapping, delivering and posting, so go and get your issue #2: from these shops, or from our World Sweet World site.

A brand new issue!

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Hello everyone,

we are happy to announce the arrival of issue #2, “Making a Fuss”. Thanks heaps to our lovely contributors out there, and special thanks to photographer Kate McPherson. Thanks for making the magazine amazing, and great to look at.

You can get issue #2 on our World Sweet World site, or from stockists all over the place. Also, you can subscribe to issue #3 – issue #6, and automatically be in to win a lamp made by ponoko.

Guess what I did last …weekend

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

It involved glue and cardboard, and a project of the new issue #2 of the magazine. But saying more would be telling. We’re expecting issue #2 to come back from the printer this afternoon, and it’ll come out this Thursday, 5th June. Coinciding with this, the website and blog will be updated visually, and there’ll be some new stuff on the site: updated Hot Dates, a few sneak peek pictures of issue #2, and of course the option to buy issue #2 and to subscribe to issues #3 – #6.

See you then!

Thomas

PS Oh, and guess what we did the weekend before that! We went to the Knack Market in Berhampore, a very cute little crafty market. There’ll be another one in a couple of months, so keep your eyes peeled!

Fair Trade Fortnight

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Check out all the stuff that’s going on during the Fair Trade Fortnight, from May 3rd til May 18th. The Trade Aid shops around New Zealand are raising awareness for Environmental Justice, showcasing the Junk to Green Funk pieces that people have submitted.

All Trade Aid events are centered around World Fair Trade Day on the 10th of May, which will see the Fair Trade Food Fiesta in the Wellington Trade Aid shop (86-96 Victoria Street), including baking, cooking demonstrations and tastings, and speakers, including Sue Kedgley (Green Party), and live music.

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

There was a bit of silence lately, but no worries, we’re still here. In fact, we were so quiet because we’re completely and absolutely working on the 2nd issue, which will be coming out on World Environment Day, 5th of June. We will be updating the site soon with new images. And, there’s a new feature – so many people have asked for it, and here it is: subscribe to issue #2 – issue #5.

Autumn Craft

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Hi everyone, another crafty fair is coming up this weekend – the Autumn Craft Festival in Lower Hutt. We’ll be there spreading World-Sweet-World-ness and will also cover two chairs during the fair. Hands on!

The exhibition will be open from 10am til 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Might see you there,

Thomas

Mighty Mighty hot

Monday, April 7th, 2008

It was hot at Mighty Mighty Markets, humid, but not raining. And we also sold some magazines!

like a craft fair

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

well… sort of. In issue 2 (which is well underway, incidentally – thanks to all the people offering to contribute) we’ve got a new gallery ads section in the back of the mag. The idea is that it will be a bit of a showcase for creative types who are making stuff. We’ve had quite a few shop owners looking in the magpie’s nest section for goodies to stock in their shops, so we thought we should give more of you makers the opportunity to get your goods out there too. Rates are reasonably cheap and cheerful – go download the rate card here if you’re interested.

thanks
Hannah
