Hi all – well, you DEFINITELY should have received your subscription in the mail by now – here’s a little pic of the beauties before they left us – all packaged up in old photocopy paper wrapping. The wrapping was kindly supplied to us by our friendly printers, Lithoprint. They’re on the Enviromark programme, and seeing as the packaging their paper comes in isn’t recyclable, they saved it for us to re-use instead. Hoorah for collaboration! We wrapped the other half of the subs in run-up sheets of issue 2. The only thing about this great idea was that it took AGES to wrap them all. If anyone has ideas on how to re-use paper for packaging, that doesn’t take for blimmin ever, let us know.

No suggestions about easy packaging (though I LOVE the colour of yours) but I can say that I received my copy here in London, thanks!
I was in Japan once and saw a lot of pretty papers simply pre-folded into slip-in type envelopes.
1) They just got a big sheet twice the size of what it was meant to hold,
2) folded it nearly in half, leaving about 1cm to an inch on one side
3) Folded that small leftover bit over right against the side,
4) and taped it down against the main piece
5) folded the bottom up and taped it down.
Taadaa plain slip in envelope and just throw in a mag, fold the top down and tape it shut.
Ok, that’s a jumble of words, but can you imagine the above?
It is pretty fast once in the swing of things I think.
Otherwise, that’s always the origami option – easy to fold ones anyway (there are some way too complex ones out there!). Some links:

Thanks a lot for your comment ;). What you’re describing is pretty much what we did, it’s just the number of envelopes we had to make… We’re looking into getting aerogram-style envelopes made of the run-up sheets.
Anyway, I have to have a look at the Origami ones as I like Origami heaps.

I’m thinking it is the taping that makes it take so long rather than the folding.
Have you ever seen the stapleless stapler? It punches a key hole shaped hole and pushes the paper through it so that it locks. If you had something like that but with several of them on a roller you could simply fold the sheet round the mag and then zip this tool up each side. Of course to my knowledge no such device exists! …..but you are the MIY specialists
