About us

World Sweet World, that’s Hannah and Thomas Schickedanz, and we have been publishing the MIY/sustainable living magazine called World Sweet World, from 2008 to 2010. The magazine has come to an end, but we’re off to new adventures, like living in a converted schoolbus. We’re also running Schickedanz Design, where we offer web and print design services. Thanks, and see you around!

World Sweet World Magazine gave you a creative hit every few months to inspire you to get making. It consisted of beautifully illustrated, step-by-step instructions for making cool stuff, followed by feature articles about people, places, and sustainable living.

    Hi!
I am from Canada, and I just ordered four issues! Can’t wait to cozy up to them while I am hibernating from the cold and get inspired!

  7. Kirsten says:

Hi there, I’ve recently been introduced to your magazine and am loving it. My daughter and I have spent some great connecting time with the creative projects in them and are looking at thinking of funky ideas we can send in.
I’m also studying up on typography a bit and would love to know what font your serif body type is in.
    Thanks, Kirsten

    • worldsweetworld says:

Hey Kirsten! Glad to hear you and your daughter are enjoying it. From one typophile to another – the body copy is in Sabon – are you studying design, or is it a personal thing?

  8. Marilyn says:

    Hi;
Have a great eco-chic craft activity that takes very little time and results in a very chic coin purse or card wallet. Please let me know if you are interested and I can send in the instructions, links to web versions already, or provide a pictorial tut of how to make.
Your choice if you need something really groovy to fill a small corner.
    cheers

    Hi,

I just got back from a year away and my friend lent me 4 issues of your magazine. It might just be the jet lag but I cried when I was reading them. I was so pleased and uplifted by articles and projects. After cracking out the knitting in my flat in London and being met with ridicule I really feel glad to be back home. Not sure what project I will attack first.

Thank you so much for producing this magazine, its really grand.

    Hi world sweet world team,

Just bought your latest issue at Starfish and am very pleased!
I was wondering if you had heard about the Make Wellington Fair Trade Campaign? I think it would be something your NZ readers would be interested in.

    Cheers,

    Sarah

I’ve recently gone back to Australia and boy do I miss WSW. I have yet to see anything even remotely like your practical, funky and educational mag here. I also miss the friendly, inspiring NZ craft community! Don’t ever stop!

  12. Edith says:

So excited, I have just been given a subscription of your magazine for my birthday. I love it….

  13. jo blakemore says:

Rescued from another dull thursday evening by the ever fantastic WSW. thanks folks luving you muchly!

  14. Josephine says:

Mmmm…….just bought the Summer issue and although it is sometimes hard to find (thank goodness for Auteur House in Hamilton),,,it is worth waiting for. keep up the good work. I find it interesting and thoughtful as well as great to look at. have a great holiday break!!!

  15. Sarah says:

I’ve just bought a subscription & received the Summer issue. I’ve been happily creating some of the featured projects from it (+ the previous issue) in my time off this summer. The fabric notebook I made is just the ticket for grocery lists. Next up is the pcinic blanket + bag – just right for lunchtime outside at work! Keep up the cool work.

  16. Not Claudia says:

Your decision to discontinue the magazine is the most environmentally friendly one. What a waste of resources. No wonder that, amongst others, brainless indulgent mistresses with nothing else to be concerned about subscribe to your totally useless mag. I could have well lived without receiving it and I’m so glad you won’t be sending any more. And thank you very much for your contribution to overpopulating the world.

  17. Kendra Wallace says:

    Hi guys!!

Thanks so much for making WSW. I have loved making crafty projects from the mag this past year! It has inspired me to go on making all kinds of things from soft toys, baby track pants and hats, necklaces, bags and I’ve just begun my first piece of big person clothing – a jacket! It’s tricky. Thanks for inspiring me to continue with this hobbie. Wish you all the best for your new step into parenthood!!

    Take care.

  18. Zo at Fix says:

Just discovered you guys today, sadly it was the last issue but it looked fantastic and I’m really glad to hear you’re keeping it going with the blog. Beautiful, inspirational, and practical work!

  19. Ebony says:

Just got my first ever mag by you guys – so sad it’s your last.
I already hit up my go-to zine shop and have 8 & 7 on the way as well :D
Glad you’ll be keeping this blog up and running.
Your stuff is inspiring. You two will make the coolest parents, good luck with it all!
